The Forgotten Refugees of Iraq
Jewish settlement in Mesopotamia dates back to 586 BCE, following the destruction of the First Temple in Jerusalem. Over centuries, Babylonian Jews played a central role in Judaism, From a community of over 135,000. By the early 1970s, nearly all Iraqi Jews had fled, marking the end of a 2,500-year-old Jewish presence.

State Sanctioned Persecution of Jews in Iraq
Beginning in 1948, Iraqi authorities enacted a number of legislative and other decrees that violated the human rights of their Jewish citizens.
